Uzbek Mursak Chapan
The Mursak is one of the most common forms of the Uzbek chapan — and this one, cut from the hand-dyed ikat silk called adras, is the first garment I ever sewed. It is where I learned the sewing machine.
To prepare the fabric I stitched every 0.5 cm across it. The black satin skirt answers the sheen of the adras, and the piece lives two ways: worn as a jacket over the skirt, or alone as a dress.
